Purchasing Agent

22 - $25 an hour - Full-time

Overview:

We’re looking for a Purchasing Agent to join our team and play a key role in managing vendor relationships and ensuring our lumber and building material orders are accurate, timely, and cost-effective. In this role, you’ll help keep our supply chain moving by creating and submitting purchase orders, tracking order status, and ensuring pricing aligns with company margin goals.   • Manage the entry, updates, and maintenance of vendor information, product catalogs, and pricing data, as required.
  • Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers for building materials.
  • Analyze supplier quotes for accuracy, pricing competitiveness, lead time, and compliance with specifications.
  • Create purchase orders, ensuring alignment with internal/external customer schedules.
  • Maintaining relationships with current suppliers and assisting in setting up new suppliers.
  • Monitor the open purchases, be prepared to mitigate any potential issues.
  • Contribute to evaluating supplier lead times, and stock targets to sustain optimal inventory levels.
  • Manages relationships with key suppliers to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery and supplier returns compliance.

Office Assistant / Receptionist

Overview:

We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to support office operations, HR functions, and finance departments in a fast-growing company with opportunities for professional development. This multifaceted role combines front-office tasks, office coordination, project assistance, and financial department support, including helping the Credit and Accounting teams with documentation, invoice management, account reconciliation, and recordkeeping.

  • Greet visitors and answer incoming calls professionally; direct calls and take accurate messages.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front office and breakroom.
  • Support coordination of company meetings and events (scheduling, room setup, catering, and materials).
  • File, scan, and organize documents for HR, Operations, and Finance.
  • Attend safety meetings to record minutes and distribute notes.

Class A CDL Driver

Overview:

We are seeking a reliable CDL Class A Driver to deliver materials to job sites safely and efficiently. This role involves loading and unloading materials, verifying delivery accuracy, and ensuring all items are in good condition. The driver will follow delivery instructions, perform daily vehicle inspections, and secure loads properly before and during transport.

  • Deliver loads and place materials on job sites for customer orders, including hand unloading according to delivery tickets assigned by management. Some manual labor required.
  • Verify materials being delivered are in good condition, and reflect materials listed on delivery tickets.
  • Follow delivery instructions as received by your supervisor.
  • Conduct daily inspections of delivery truck as required by company policy.
  • Ensure safe operation of truck and equipment.
  • Must be able to follow all company safety policies and procedures, while wearing provided Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Strap down and secure loads and check all material for damage before leaving the yard and between drops on journeys.
  • Product knowledge is helpful, however, willing to train the right candidate.
  • Maintain neat and professional look of equipment, work areas and personal appearance.
  • Complies with Company’s attendance policy by maintaining regular and predictable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
  • Active CDL Class A license
  • Valid DOT Medical Card
  • Active Hoisting 1C License required or must be willing to obtain.
  • Minimum 1 year truck operating experience required with clean driving record.

Lumber Yard Associate - Temp

temp-to-hire position

$20 - $24 an hour - Temporary, Full-time

Overview:

Dartmouth Building Supply is seeking a reliable and safety-driven Lumber Yard Associate to join our team. This is a temp-to-hire position. Once your application is reviewed to verify that your qualifications meet the position requirements, you will be scheduled for an on-site interview. If selected for employment, we will provide contact information for the temp agency we partner with. After up to one year of successful employment, you may become eligible for direct hire with Dartmouth Building Supply. Standard company benefits become available 30 days after direct hire.

  • Pick and build loads for customer orders based on management-assigned pick lists.
  • Unload trucks and put away materials from supplier deliveries and customer returns.
  • Safely operate company forklifts and maintain a current forklift certification.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including required PPE use.
  • Maintain yard and warehouse cleanliness; dispose of waste as directed.
  • Keep material storage areas safe, organized, and compliant with supervisor instructions.
  • Learn and retain knowledge of company stock, special-order products, and wood-frame construction to maximize load efficiency.
  • Maintain neat, professional equipment, work areas, and personal appearance.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance in accordance with company policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. At Dartmouth Building Supply, teamwork is essential and we work together to support safe and efficient operations.

  • Minimum 1 year of forklift operating experience required.
  • Minimum 1 year of industry-specific experience. Must be able to identify different products specifically different types of lumber and building materials.
  • Forklift proficiency and ability to follow all safety policies.
  • Basic knowledge of building materials.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret pick lists, delivery tickets, and sales orders.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments; company uniform required.
  • Ability to walk throughout yards, plants, and offices.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs consistently and 80 lbs occasionally; bending, stooping, and prolonged sitting required.
  • Company uniform is required. Clothing must be work-appropriate; sweatpants, athletic shorts, baggy clothing, or clothing with rips or tears are not permitted. Work boots required.
  • Hourly rate commensurate with experience.

A background check will be required through our partnering staffing agency as a condition of temporary employment. An additional background check will also be required at the time of direct hire with Dartmouth Building Supply. All background screenings are conducted in accordance with applicable Massachusetts laws and regulations.
